How to send an SMS campaign in Brave Tools

Learn how to create and send targeted SMS messages to your HubSpot contacts using Brave Tools SMS Campaigns.

Overview

SMS Campaigns in Brave Tools lets you send targeted text messages to contacts in your HubSpot lists. You can use your own 46elks account (BYOK) or Brave-managed SMS to get started quickly.

Prerequisites

  • A Standard or Professional plan on Brave Tools
  • At least one connected HubSpot portal
  • SMS credits (included monthly with your plan, or purchase additional credits)
  • A HubSpot list (static or active) with contacts that have phone numbers

Step 1: Go to SMS Campaigns

In the left sidebar of Brave Tools, click SMS Campaigns. You will see the Campaigns tab with your previous campaigns (if any).

Step 2: Set up your SMS source (first time only)

Before sending your first campaign, go to the Settings tab and configure your SMS source:

  • Brave Managed SMS — The easiest option. We handle the technical setup. You just start sending.
  • Bring Your Own Key (BYOK) — Connect your own 46elks account for full control over sender names and billing.

Step 3: Create a new campaign

Click the New Campaign tab to start the campaign wizard:

  1. Select a HubSpot list — Choose which contacts to send to. You can search and filter your lists.
  2. Compose your message — Write your SMS text. You will see a live phone preview of how the message looks. Keep messages concise — each SMS is limited to 160 characters (or 70 for unicode). Longer messages are split into multiple parts.
  3. Choose a sender — Select a sender name or phone number. Available senders depend on your SMS source configuration.

Step 4: Preview cost

Before sending, you will see a cost preview showing:

  • Number of valid recipients (contacts with phone numbers)
  • SMS parts per message
  • Estimated total cost in credits

Make sure you have enough credits before proceeding.

Step 5: Confirm and send

On the confirmation screen:

  1. Give your campaign a name (auto-generated from the list name and date)
  2. Optionally schedule the campaign for later
  3. Check the GDPR consent checkbox
  4. Click Send SMS (or Schedule SMS if scheduled)

After sending

Your campaign will appear in the Campaigns tab where you can track delivery status, see how many messages were delivered, failed, or resulted in unsubscribes.

If you have a Professional plan, you can also view detailed analytics in the Reports tab.

Tips

  • Include a HubSpot tracking link (hubs.ly) in your message to automatically link the campaign to HubSpot for reporting.
  • Test with a small list first before sending to your full audience.
  • Check your credit balance before sending large campaigns.
  • The unsubscribe footer is automatically appended unless you explicitly opt out.
