How to use Text Transform in Property Transformer

The Text Transform action lets you transform text with operations like capitalize, extract domain from email, or create URL-safe slugs. This is useful for cleaning up and standardizing text data directly in your HubSpot workflows.

This action works on all object types, including Contacts, Companies, Deals, and Custom Objects.

Supported property types:
- Single-line text
- Multi-line text

How to set it up

  • In your HubSpot workflow, add a new action

  • Under "Integrated Apps", find "Brave Tools"

  • Select "Text Transform"

  • Configure the input fields (see below)

  • Map the output value to the property you want to update

Input fields

Source text (required)
The text property to transform. Select any text property from the enrolled object.

Operation (required)
The transformation to apply. Available operations:

  • Capitalize Words - Capitalizes the first letter of each word. "john doe" becomes "John Doe".

  • UPPERCASE - Converts all text to uppercase. "john doe" becomes "JOHN DOE".

  • lowercase - Converts all text to lowercase. "JOHN DOE" becomes "john doe".

  • Trim whitespace - Removes leading and trailing spaces. "  john doe  " becomes "john doe".

  • Extract domain - Extracts the domain from an email address. "john@acme.com" becomes "acme.com".

  • Extract first name - Extracts the first word from a full name. "John Doe" becomes "John".

  • Extract last name - Extracts the last word from a full name. "John Doe" becomes "Doe".

  • URL slug - Creates a URL-safe version of the text. "My Blog Post!" becomes "my-blog-post".

Output fields

Transformed text - The result of the transformation.

Example

You want to extract the company domain from a contact's email address.

Configuration: Operation = Extract domain

Input: Email = "john@acme.com"

Output:

Transformed text = "acme.com"

Good to know

  • Extract domain works with standard email formats. It takes everything after the @ symbol.

  • Extract first name and Extract last name split on spaces, so "Mary Jane Watson" gives first name "Mary" and last name "Watson".

  • URL slug removes special characters, replaces spaces with hyphens, and converts to lowercase.

  • If the source text is empty, the output will be empty and the workflow will continue.

  • Property Transformer is available on paid plans. Trial users do not have access to this feature.
