Sending a route via SMS

Once you have saved a route, you can text the Google Maps link straight to a driver. This is handy for getting a route onto someone's phone without them having to log in to Brave Tools.

How to send a route

  1. Save a route, or open a saved route from the Routes tab
  2. Choose Send via SMS
  3. Enter the recipient's phone number (for example +4670XXXXXXX)
  4. Click Send SMS

The recipient receives a short text with the Google Maps link. Tapping it opens the full route in Google Maps on their phone.

What the message looks like

The SMS is sent from the sender name BraveTools and contains the route link, for example: "Your route: https://www.google.com/maps/dir/...". The message content is fixed — it always contains the route link and nothing else.

You do not need to set up an SMS sender

Unlike SMS Campaigns, Route Planner SMS is a built-in system message. You do not need to configure your own sender or 46elks account — Route Planner uses the shared BraveTools sender. The only requirement is that your account has SMS credits.

It uses your SMS credits

Sending a route by SMS uses the same SMS credits as the rest of Brave Tools. If you run out, you will see a message asking you to buy more credits, which you can do under SMS Campaigns → Settings. Note that Google Maps links can be long, so a single route SMS may use more than one message segment (and therefore more than one credit).

Copying the link is always free

If you do not want to spend credits, use Copy Google Maps link instead and share it however you like — email, chat, or your own messaging app. Copying never uses credits or route quota.

Where route SMS shows up

Every route SMS is recorded in the activity feed on your Brave Tools dashboard, under SMS, alongside your campaign and workflow messages. Re-sending the same route again only uses SMS credits — it never counts against your monthly route quota.
